Our Services

Sketch Design

This is where it all begins - with ideas, sketches, and creative thinking. In this early phase, we explore the layout, flow, and big-picture possibilities of your project. It’s all about shaping a vision without diving too deep into the technical details just yet.

Design Development

With a clear concept in place, we refine the design. This stage adds detail and clarity - introducing measurements, materials, and finishes. It helps you visualise how the space will look and function, and gives us a solid direction before jumping into approvals and technical drawings.

Development Approval (DA)

Here, we prepare all the required documentation for you to submit to your local council. This includes detailed site plans, elevations, floor plans, and sections - all designed to meet relevant codes and regulations. It’s the crucial step that gets your project officially green-lit.

Construction Documentation

Once approvals are in hand, we produce the full set of working drawings. These documents guide your builder through the construction process and cover everything from structural details to electrical, plumbing, and material specs. Clear plans mean fewer delays and smoother builds.

The Story

Hi, I’m Tara Spencer, the person behind Lofty & Little Designs.

What began as a love of sketching floor plans and reimagining small spaces has grown into a full-time career in residential drafting. Living in a tiny home myself, I’ve experienced firsthand how clever, sustainable design can completely change the way we live, and now I get to help others bring their ideas to life, too.

I share life with my wife Shazz, who brings endless support, laughs, and an eye for design of her own. My days are also happily shared with our tiny but mighty office companion, Prim - who takes her job as quality assurance supervisor (and snack monitor) very seriously.

The name Lofty & Little is inspired by our two dogs - one lanky adventurer and a feisty little sidekick - but also to the spirit of my work: a mix of big ideas and thoughtful little details.

I’m based in Boyup Brook, WA, and when I’m not drafting, I’m likely playing guitar, tinkering on one of my many projects, or soaking up the slower pace of country life. I believe good design doesn’t need to be complicated - it just needs to work for the people living in it. And with the right balance of heart and function, it can be both down-to-earth and downright beautiful.
